This 2016 Xuechang Sun 920 Gofriller model has had the performance enhancement procedure of a top regraduation and bass bar remodeling. Used for 6 years as a regular gigging jazz instrument, this bass has developed a large and full voice. The spruce top has fine and even grain across its entire width. The tap tones are very rich and resonant from the grain structure, top regraduation, and consistent play. The maple ribs and back plate has light to moderate flame figuring and complex tap tones. The maple neck is fit with half plate tuning machines. The replacement adjustable endpin is an ULSA unit with 10 mm steel rod. The replacement maple Aubert bridge has adjusters installed. The G side has had leather bumpers installed. The varnish is a dark wine red. The strings are Permanent E and Flexocore 92 A, D, and G. Dimensions are: Top length 43 1/4″, Upper bout width 20 3/8″, Middle bout width 14″, Lower bout width 27″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/2″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 1/8″, Rib depth at neck joint 6 1/2″, String length 41 1/4″.
