New Xuechang Sun 420 Gofriller

This new Xuechang Sun model 420 Gofriller has been customized with the installation of a Rubner ebony string post (hatpeg) set of tuning machines. This larger orchestral model instrument has been a shop favorite orchestral instrument of the course of 20 years and many examples of this size. The spruce top has very bold medium width grain ant the center and finer grain at the edges.  The maple ribs and carved back show mild flame figure and feature a moderate density, with musical tap tones. The maple neck has been custom fit with Rubner single unit tuning machines with ebony posts. The nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are ebony. The tailpiece is dark rosewood. The Bausch bridge has been fit with adjusters. The New Harmony adjustable endpin features a solid graphite rod. The dark red varnish presents a subtle look that fits in well in orchestral settings. Dimensions are: Top length 41 1/2″, Upper bout width 20 1/8″, Middle bout width 14″, Lower bout width 26 7/8″, Rib depth at tail 9″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 1/2″, Rib depth at neck joint 7 1/4″, String length 41 5/8″. This bass is currently strung with Pirastro Flexocore strings for a large and smooth orchestral voice. With cover.
