Description
This new Shen SB 200 willow 7/8 flatback (2022-10-101) has the very large orchestral or jazz voice that this model is well known for. The medium-fine grain spruce top has a complex resonance that compliments the bass-rich will corpus. The willow ribs and back plate have excellent bass-resonant tap tones. The medium profile maple neck is fitted with mid-grade single unit brass and stainless steel tuning machines. The nut, fingerboard, tailpiece and tailpiece saddle are all made from ebony. The adjustable endpin is a steel rod in an ebony collar. The replacement bridge is an Aubert with added adjusters. The dark reddish brown varnish is lovely in the sunlight. The Spirocore orchestra gauge strings compliment the dark tones of the 7/8 size willow corpus. The dimensions are: Top length 44 5/8″, Upper bout width 21″, Middle bout width 14 1/2″, Lower bout width 27 1/8″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/2″, Rib depth at upper bout crease 8″, Rib depth at neck joint 6 5/8″, String length 42 1/4″. This bass has a large, projective voice in a jazz or orchestra section. An excellent performance bass at a very attractive price. With cover.
