New Shen SB 200 willow 3/4 flatback (2022-6-110) has an especially nice spruce top that offers a lot of harmonic complexity and presence. The willow back and sides are moderately dense and have ringing musical tap tones. The maple neck has been fit with single unit mid-grade brass tuning machines. The nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are made from ebony. The tailpiece is made from ebonized dense white wood. The adjustable endpin is of the 10 mm steel rod type. The replacement bridge is a Despiau with added adjusters. The finish is a reddish-brown oil varnish. Current stringing is with Spirocore Orchestra gauge strings. Other stringing options are available for this very versatile bass.
