This new Shen SB 200 willow 3/4 flatback (2021-2-67) has a rich voice that is especially well suited for jazz playing. The spruce top has medium width grain and a darker tap tone. The Willow back and sides have a medium density and a complex tap tone. The maple neck is fit with individual mid-grade brass tuning machines. The nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are made of ebony. The replacement German tailpiece is made of African ebony. The Despiau bridge is fit with adjusters. The replacement New Harmony adjustable endpin features a solid graphite pin. The orange-brown oil varnish finish is lightly applied. The bass is currently strung with Thomastik Spirocore mittel strings.
