This new Shen SB 200 willow 3/4 flatback (2019-11-61) is a good candidate for combination orchestral and jazz playing. The spruce top features consistent narrow grain width and a complex tap tone. The willow back and sides are of medium density and have rich, dark tap tone. The maple neck is fit with brass mid-grade tuning machines. The nut, fingerboard, replacement German tailpiece, and tailpiece saddle are all ebony. The replacement Despiau bridge is made of medium density German maple and fit with adjusters. The replacement endpin is a New Harmony solid graphite model. The medium red-brown oil varnish finish is lightly applied. The current stringing is with Thomastik Spirocore mittel strings.
