New Shen SB 200 maple Bussetto carved back



This new Shen SB 200 maple Busetto carved back bass has a rich voice and an even playing string length that makes it very rewarding to play. The fine grain spruce top has a medium flexibility that offers a quick response and large voice in all ranges. The medium density quartersawn maple ribs and backplate show warm tap tones and a colorful upper midrange character. The maple neck has been fit with mid-grade brass tuning machines with stainless steel worm gears. The nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are made of ebony. The replacement tailpiece is rosewood. The adjustable endpin is a Shen unit with 10 mm steel rod. The Despiau bridge blank has been fit with adjusters that turn easily and precisely. The medium orange-brown oil varnish finish is applied lightly and offers a lovely look out in the morning sunlight. The current stringing is Pirastro Passione for a well-defined, but warm arco voice. Dimensions are: Top length 42 1/8″, Upper bout width 18 3/4″, Middle bout width is 14 1/4, Lower bout width is 26″, Rib depth at tail is 8 3/4″, Rib depth at upper bout corner is 7 1/2″, Rib depth at neck joint is 6 5/8″, String length is 40 7/8″.
