This Shen SB 200 3/4 violin cornered Willow 3/4 carved back (2018-8-124) is a particularly fine sounding example of Shen’s mid-price student models. Exhibited at the recent NAMM show in Anaheim, CA, this bass is notable for the even fine grain Spruce top. The violin corner configuration lends a more sophisticated look and the size of the pattern is a little different than the gamba shaped version. Willow back and sides, Maple neck, Mid-grade brass single unit tuning machines, Ebony nut, fingerboard and tailpiece saddle, Replacement Ebony French style tailpiece, Replacement German maple bridge with added adjusters, Replacement New Harmony solid graphite endpin, Arco setup, Strung with Flexocore Deluxe strings, Red-brown oil varnish finish.
Top length 42 3/4″, Upper bout width 19 3/4″, Middle bout width 14 3/8″, Lower bout width 26″, Depth at tail 9″, Depth at upper bout bend 8 1/4″, Depth at neck 6 7/8″, String length 41 5/8″.
This bass has a large rich arco voice, with a slightly fuller bass response compared to the companion gamba shaped version in stock. With cover.
