This new Shen SB 180 deluxe 3/4 hybrid (2019-12-44) has a very nice close grained spruce top that provides a strong and colorful voice in all ranges. This instrument is equally well suited to orchestral or jazz play. The laminated maple back and sides show a little curly figure. The maple neck is fitted with individual mid-grade brass tuning machines. The Nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are ebony. The Hill style paitlpiece is ebonized hardwood. The replacement European maple bridge has been fitted with adjusters. The adjustable end pin is a 10 mm steel rod type. The red-brown oil varnish finish has an understated elegance. The strings are D’Addario Zyex medium gauge.
