Description
This new Shen SB 150 hybrid in 5/8 size (2023-1-102) offers a large voice in an easily payable 5/8 size. The spruce top has a responsive character and warm tap tones. The laminated maple back and sides have an easily playable 5/8 shape. The maple neck has been fit with individual tuning machines that turn precisely and smoothly. The nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are all made from ebony. The ebonized tailpiece is held by a braided steel cable tail wire. The replacement German maple bridge has been fit with adjusters. The endpin is the 10 mm adjustable steel rod type. The oil varnish finish has some red highlights that show beautifully in the sunlight. This bass is currently strung with D’Addario Zyex strings for a warm, rich tonal character. Dimensions are: Top length 41 1/2″, Upper bout width 19 5/8″, Middle bout width 14 1/4″, Lower bout width 25 1/2″, Rib depth at tail 7 3/4″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 1/4″, Rib depth at neck 6″, String length 39 1/2″.
