This new Paesold 592 3/4 size bass continues the Paesold tradition of making slightly more lightly built and richly responsive instruments. The European spruce top shows very bold grain definition and has very lively sounding tap tones. The well-seasoned, clear figure German maple back and sides have satisfying tap tones and a lighter build structure than some of the heavier built German instruments. The German maple neck has had Rubner single unit tuning machines installed with ebony hatpeg style string posts. The nut, fingerboard, tailpiece and tailpiece saddle are all made from aged African ebony stock. The adjustable endpin is an ULSA unit with aluminum tube hollow rod. The German maple bridge has had adjusters added that turn smoothly and easily. The antiqued brown varnish is lightly applied and acoustically transparent. Dimensions are: Top length 42 1/8″, Upper bout width 20 1/8″, Middle bout width 13 3/4″, Lower bout width 26 1/8″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/2″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 1/8″, Rib depth at neck 6 1/2″, String length 41 1/4″. This bass is currently strung with Pirastro Passione strings for orchestral use and has had a set of Spirocore orchestra gauge strings that worked well for jazz playing. This is a nice lively instrument with a pleasing tone. It is good to have one in stock again. With cover.
