This ca. 1960s Anton Schuster 3/4 carved back has just received a top regraduation from Allan Droyan and the results are remarkable. The bass came to the shop from an elderly educator and performer in southern California who had used it for lessons at home for over 4 decades. The bass was well maintained over the years and has finally received a new bridge and fingerboard. Medium grain European spruce top, Plain figure european maple back, sides, and neck, Halfplate Rubner nickel plated tuning machines, Recently upgraded african ebony nut and fingerboard, Ebony german made tailpiece, Aluminum rod german replacement endpin, New Teller bridge added with adjusters as part of a complete setup, Freshly regraduated top that was overly thick, Dark red finsh that has crackled a little.
Top length 43″, Upper bout width 19 1/2″, Middle bout width 14 3/4″, Lower bout width 25 1/2″, Depth at tail 8 1/2, Depth at upper bout shoulder 8 1/4″, Depth at neck 7 1/4″, String length 42 1/4″.
The very fully developed voice from decades of regular play and recent top regraduation make this bass an especially good value in jazz or orchestral settings. With cover.
