Description
This consignment ca. 1960s German small 3/4 carved back bass has a quick and nimble response to a bow with Evah Pirazzi weich strings or when played pizz with Spirocore weich. Medium and even grain european spruce top, Mildly flame figured maple back, sides, and neck, Brass halfplate tuners, Ebony fittings, Maple bridge with added adjusters, 10 mm steel rod adjustable endpin, Dark red-orange spirit varnish, Strung with Evah Pirazzi strings. Top-off cleating a slight regraduation work by the senior luthier of our allied team of doublebass luthiers. Dimensions are: Top length 42 3/4″, Upper bout width 18 3/4″, Middle bout width 13 3/4″, Lower bout width 25 1/4″, Depth at neck 7″, Depth at upper bout corner 8 1/2″, Depth at tail 8 1/2″, String length 41 7/8″. The light build gives this bass a fast response and a lyrical, bel canto cello character in the upper reaches of the fingerboard. Recently fitted with a non-adjustable bridge and a new fingerboard.
