Description

This ca. 1930s German 3/4 carved back bass represents a wonderful marriage of good materials, especially the top wood, and our full suite of performance upgrades that include: Neck reset, Top regraduation, New African Ebony fingerboard, and New Bridge. This bass is a very fine combination jazz and orchestral instrument, currently strung with Pirastro Flexocore Deluxe strings. Taken as a trade-in this bass received an end block regluing, re-edging off some areas of thew top,  and replacement of all of the old reinforcement cleats. The top has bold grain lines and a very even grain line spacing, The lightly flame figured Maple has no faults and a straight, uniform grain structure. The original tuning machines are in fine shape and have been well maintained over time. The ULSA endpin is fairly recent and adjusts flawlessly.

The dimensions are: Top length 42 5/8″, Upper bout width 20 1/4″, Middle bout width 14 1/4″, Lower bout width 25 5/8″, Depth at tail 8 1/8″, Depth at upper bout crease 8″, Depth at neck joint 6 5/8″, String length 41 3/4″.

One of the most common requests that we get are for great sounding 1920s-30s German made 3/4 carved back basses, versatile for jazz or orchestral play. This instrument is a very fine example of those characteristics. With Blue Mooradian cover.
