Description
This consignment ca. 1930s Czech 3/4 carved back bass is in good condition and has a good jazz voice. The top is a well-chosen 2-piece section of European spruce and the back sides, and neck are made from moderately flame figured maple. The original halfplate tuning machines are a little tarnished, but turn easily and smoothly. The original dovetail joint was reworked to a real mortise joint and reset to a slightly higher neck angle. The fittings are ebony. The endpin is a graphite unit of unknown manufacture. The bridge that was in place has been shimmed in the adjusters area for the extra height need.
Dimensions are:
Top length 43″, Upper bout width 19 7/8″, Middle bout width 14 1/4″, Lower bout width 25 5/8″, Rib depth at tail 8″, Rib depth at upper bout crease 7 3/8″, Rib depth at neck joint 6″, String length 41 3/4″.
A nice jazz bass that will not break the budget. With cover.
