This left-handed Shen SB 150 3/4 hybrid (2019-1-29) was damaged in shipment to me, breaking the fingerboard. There are a couple of scars on then top where the fingerboard touched down. The fingerboard was replaced with a thicker African ebony fingerboard just in time for a rental situation in Monterey. The voice is quite solid with the thicker fingerboard and higher resulting bridge. The solid spruce top has a lively balanced voice. The laminated maple back and sides are finished in a red-brown oil varnish, as is the solid spruce top. The gold-plated single unit tuners work very smoothly and freely. The ebony nut, replacement fingerboard, Hill style tailpiece, and tailpiece saddle are all in good shape. The very nice Aubert Bridge has adjuster installed. The endpin is a 10 mm steel rod type. Strung with Spirocore mitten strings, the jazz voice is quite strong and developed.
Top length $42 3/4″, Upper bout width 20″, Middle bout width 14 1/4″, Lower bout width 26 1/8″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/8″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 3/4″, Rib depth at neck 6 1/4″, String length 41 1/4″.
A very fine upper student level model for the left-handed player. With cover.
