Description

This 2013 Xuechang Sun model 320 bass has been used continuously by two student members of the family since 2014. The music played has been a mix of orchestral and jazz settings. The bass has developed a rich, responsive voice. The top is made from high grade Russian spruce with bold grain lines and very even fine grain width. The maple back, sides, and neck show some flame figure. The half plate tuning machines have been regularly lubricated and they turn smoothly and precisely. The nut, fingerboard, tailpiece, and tailpiece saddle are made from ebony. The replacement adjustable 10 mm steel rod endpin is brand new. The bridge was fit with adjusters and was recently re-crowned and cleaned by Jeff Sahs. The finish is a lightly applied red-brown varnish. The strings are a new set of D’Addario Zyex. The Dimensions are: Top length 43″, Upper bout width 20″, Middle bout width 14 3/4″, Lower bout width 26 1/8″, Rib depth at tail 8 3/4″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 1/2″, Rib depth at neck, String length 41 1/2″. The fingerboard was recently planed by Jeff Sahs. This bass is playing quite well and will be a good learning asset for a student. It is versatile in a mixed use jazz and orchestral program.
