Description
This 2011 Samuel Shen SB 150 (2011-1-73) hybrid 3/4 bass was treated well by its consigning owner, just picking up a few dents and scrapes on the bass-side lower bout area of the top near the tailpiece. It has a developed voice from regular play. The solid spruce top has nice midrange-rich tap tones and a very pleasing voice. The laminated maple back and sides are free from injury or wear. The maple neck has been fit with brass tuning machines. The nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are ebony. The tailpiece is ebonized hardwood. The adjustable endpin has a notched 10 mm steel rod in an ebony collar. The bridge is medium density maple with added adjusters. The finish is red-brown oil varnish. The strings are a new set of D’Addario Helicore hybrid. Dimensions are: Top length 43″, Upper bout width 20″, Middle bout width 14 1/2″, Lower bout width 2 1/8″, Rib depth at tail 8 1/2″, Rib depth at upper bout bend 7 5/8″, Rib depth at neck joint 6″, String length 41 1/4″. The bass has an easy playing feel and a pleasing voice, whether played pizz or arco. With Shen cover.
