Description

This 1999 Martin Sheridan “Panormo” flatback is a fine orchestral bass once again after having led a gigging jazz life with its original owner. The top is medium grain spruce, the black, sides, and neck are maple. The single unit brass tuning machines are supplied from the Cincinnati Bass Shop. The fittings, including a new replacement fingerboard, are all African ebony. The endpin is a New Harmony solid graphite unit. The Aubert bridge has been fitted with aluminum adjusters. The antiqued finish is a lightly applied oil varnish. As part of the restoration, the neck was reset, the uppermost back brace was replaced, The top was lightly regraduated with a slight bass bar remodeling, and all interior cracks were glued and recleated. The large orchestral voice speaks with a profound presence down to the bottom notes with a custom Jason Brown C extension.
