New Shen SB 150 hybrid 3/4

This new Shen SB 150 hybrid 3/4 (2021-5-22) has an especially nice spruce top. This bass has a solid voice and strong presence. The spruce top is notable for fairly even grain and balanced tap tones. The back and sides are laminated maple. The maple neck is fit with individual unit tuning machines. The nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle are ebony. The replacement tailpiece is in the Hill style. The 10 mm endpin unit has an ebony collar and a more rugged rubber endpin tip. The replacement Teller German maple bridge was chosen for grain quality and a ringing tap tone. The bass is currently strung with D’Addario Zyex strings.
