The unlabeled all-solid woods 3/4 size Chinese bass has a lovely top that has been performance enhanced with a top-off degradation and bass bar remodel. The result is an instrument that rivals the German shop instruments of the 1960s. The Spruce top features strong and even fine grain throughout. The Unfigured maple back and sides have nice density and tap tone. The maple neck is straight and even in grain. The single unit tuning machines have been lubricated regularly and turn easily. The Ebony fittings are of good quality and there is plenty of thickness left in the fingerboard. The Teller bridge has been fit with adjusters and set to an easy playing height. The Steel rod endpin is of the type sold by Christopher. The dark red varnish is lightly applied and beautifully colored. Strung with D’Addario Helicore Hybrid strings, this high level student bass has a very bold voice when used in Jazz or orchestral settings. Dimensions are: Topo length 42 1/2″, Upper bout width 20 1/4″, Middle bout width 14 1/2″, Lower bout width 25 3/4″, String length 41 1/8″. An extremely lively and experienced bass that yields a rich and penetrating voice in either a jazz or orchestral setting.
