This ca. 1960s 3/4 German carved back bass came to me with an older non-professional refinish, so it seemed ideal to be part of my stable of rental jazz basses. After a neck reset, new fingerboard, new tuning machines, new bridge, and a New Harmony endpin, it was more likely that this rich-voiced bass is ideal as an orchestral rental. Hearing a great response all the way down to a low C note, it became an obvious choice to get a Jason Brown C extension. Delivery day is finally here and the bass is ready for orchestral service with the new C extension. The top is of nice quality spruce and shows moderate “hazelfichte”, or bear claw figure. The flame figured back and sides are also of very nice quality, with good tap tone response. The neck has gotten a neck angler changer in the neck reset the brought the overstand up to 32 mm. I had Allan Droyan plug the screw holes and tuning machine post holes so that I could install a new set of tuning machines in my preferred position of G string closest to the nut. The Aubert Bridge is high quality and has had New Harmony adjusters installed. The bass is strung with the currently most popular arco strings, Pirastro Flexocore Deluxe. The large voice for a 3/4 size bass and easy playing string length make professional use a breeze. DIMENSIONS are: Top length 42 3/4″, Upper bout width 20 3/8″, Middle bout width 14 1/2″, Lower bout width 25 1/2″, Rib depth at tail 7 3/4″, Rib depth at upper bout corner 7 5/8″, Rib depth at neck 6 1/2″, String length 41 1/4″. Though this bass is a dedicated rental, I would reluctantly sell it at the price listed below. With cover.

Price: $11,000
