This consignment ca. 1920s Czech 3/4 flatback bass comes back to the SF Bay Area after many years in the Phoenix, AZ area. A pegbox repair was performed locally by ace repairman, Alex Friedman of South San Francisco. Other performance upgrades ¬†performed in an Arizona shop were a top regraduation and a new bass bar. Other repairs were made to the sides. Most recently, a french polish of the entire finish was performed by the legendary Jon Peterson of Santa Monica. Nice medium grain spruce top, Plain figure maple back and sides, Beech neck, Hatpeg tuners with upgraded ebony posts, Ebony fittings, 10 mm steel rod adjustable endpin, High quality maple bridge with added adjusters, strung with Velvet blue low tension strings. Dimensions are: Top length 42 1/2″, Upper bout width 20 1/2″, Middle bout width 14 3/8″, Lower bout width 25 1/2″, Depth at neck 6 1/8″, Depth at upper bout corner 8 3/8″, Depth at tail 8 5/8″, String length 42 1/4″. This instrument has a quick and nimble response, yielding a rich dark voice with plenty of punch for acoustic jazz situations. An exceptionally good sounding jazz bass, I don’t expect this one to last long in inventory. With cover.
