This Romanian made large 3/4 bass, a 2004 “Romanov”, is made from well chosen Carpathian flame maple and select Carpathian spruce top. The top was lightly regraduated by our most senior member of the allied luthier team for a more responsive low end. A very nice conservatory level orchestral instrument. Flame figured Carpathian Maple back and sides, Fine and even grain Carpathian spruce top with some hazelfichte (bearclaw figure), Rubner gold-plated single unit tuning machines with ebony posts, Ebony nut, fingerboard and tailpiece saddle, Rosewood German style tailpiece, ULSA aluminum tube endpin with screw-on top, Select European maple bridge with added adjusters, Gorgeous Red-orange varnish finish, Currently strung with Evah Pirazzi orchestral strings. DIMENSIONS are: Top length 43″ (111 cm), Upper bout width 19 3/4″ (51 cm), Middle bout width 13 3/4″ (35.5 cm), Lower bout width 27 1/8″ (70 cm), Depth at tail 8 7/8″ (22.5 cm), Depth at upper bout corner 8 1/4″ (21 cm), Depth at neck 7 1/4″ (18.7 cm), String length 41 1/8″ (106 cm). This bass was never played much by either of the two former owners, so it will develope a more mature and stronger voice with play in pretty short order. Beautiful tone and strong presence. With cover.
