2004 Romanov 3/4 carved back

On consignment from its retiring owner, I am pleased to see the return to inventory this very nice  2oo4 Romanov large 3/4 carved back bass from Romania. The specialized 3/4 size has an enlarged lower bout and deeper sides for more air volume and larger vibrating plates. The materials used are especially nice quality, featuring flame figured European maple neck, sides, and back, Tight and even grain European spruce top with “hazelfichte” or “bear claw figuring, Gold plated Rubner single unit machines with ebony “hatpeg” posts, Ebony nut, fingerboard, and tailpiece saddle, Rosewood german style tailpiece, Gotz aluminum pin endpin, High quality Aubert bridge with adjusters added, Antique orange spirit varnish finish, Strung with Original Flexocore strings for a solid orchestral presence. The scroll is carved in an especially artful manner in comparison to the more standard style used on most of the student instruments from this maker. Dimensions are: Top length 43″, Upper bout width 19 3/4″, Middle bout width 13 5/8″, Lower bout 27″, Depth at neck 7 1/4″, Depth at upper bout corner 8 1/8″, Depth at tail 9″, String length 41″. There are few signs of playing wear, only a couple of small dings and little edge wear. This instrument has a broad and colorful voice in an orchestral setting and is easy to play with the 41″ string length. A very nice conservatory type instrument.
