This trade-in customized Kolstein Fendt model is a 7/8 Willow flatback that has had many performance upgrades over the 18 years that the first owner used it professionally since college days. Fine to medium grain carpathian spruce top, slab cut will back and sides, carpathian maple neck ebony fittings. The owner eventually replaced all the remaining original parts with: Fully chromatic Kolstein C extension, Rubner tuners, New bridge and tailpiece saddle by Seattle luthier Sarah Balmforth, Tailpiece by the Bass Spa, Carbon fiber New Harmony endpin. Other procedures have included: Neck reset by Hammond Ashley for a good chalk fit solid function and a final bridge height of 6 13/16″, position markers at G/D/G harmonics, and drilled for a Laborie endpin by Robertson violins. Currently strung with Priastro Flexocore Deluxe strings, the bass bass both a commanding presence in the lower registers and a soulfully singing tone in the upper positions.
