1962 American Standard “Bruce Lee”

This returning champion is a 1962 American Standard from H.N. White that we originally sold about 5 years ago. The original neck had been torn out of it and was too cracked up to salvage. We had carefully fit a salvaged ca. 1900 german neck with hat peg tuners and the bass sold 30 minutes after it was completed. The last owner kept changing the bridge position and planing the fingerboard until there wasn’t much left of either one. We have now installed a full thickness aged african ebony fingerboard, new ebony nut, new sound post, new german aluminum rod endpin, light ebonized hardwood tailpiece, and a tall Aubert Luxe bridge with adjusters added as part of a comprehensive setup. The interior was cleaned up to prevent any extraneous buzzes or rattles. The enamel painting of Bruce Lee on the back remains relatively unscratched. Dimensions are: Top length 43″, Upper bout width 21″, Middle bout width 15 1/2″, Lower bout width 26″, Depth at neck 6 1/2″, Depth at upper bout corner 7 7/8″, Depth at tail 8″, String length 43 1/4″. The voice is full, penetrating, and has a lot of presence in all registers. Now strung with Evah Pirazzi weich strings, this instrument has also performed well with Obligato, Spirocore, Velvet Garbo, and gut stings. With cover.
