This returning consignment 1954 blonde finish King Moretone (2989) is one of my personal favorites from the middle period for H.N. White’s celebrated laminated doublebasses. This bass has had a few plate corner reglues and received a replacement german endpin, older french style tailpiece, Brass halfplate tuners, and a thicker replacement ebony fingerboard. The voice is strong and even with a lighter tension string, such as Spirocore weich. Spruce outer ply laminated top, Maple laminated sides and back, Maple neck, Ebony nut and fingerboard, Ebonized white wood tailpiece, Ebonized rosewood tailpiece saddle, German maple bridge with added adjusters, Aluminum pin endpin, Deep amber finish, Currently strung with Spirocore weich strings. DIMENSIONS are: Top length 42 5/8″, Upper bout width 19 1/8″, Middle bout width 14 1/8″, Lower bout width 25 1/8″, Depth at tail 8″, Depth at upper bout corner 7 7/8″, Depth at neck 6 3/8″, String length 43 1/2″. This bass responds especially well to Spirocore weich, Evah Pirazzi weich, or Obligato strings for effective pizz playing. A very nice example. With cover.

Price: $3,500
