1910 German or Bohemian 3/4 carved back

This recently restored German or Bohemian 3/4 carved back bass dates from about 1910. It has a rich, lush voice and plays quite easily. Allan Droyan performed a lot of restoration work, including a new bass bar, top regraduation, new african ebony fingerboard, and a neck reset for shorter string length and contemporary overstand height. The setup work was performed with an old stock high quality bridge, Gotz endpin, and ebony Hill style tailpiece. Dimensions are: Top length 41 7/8″, Upper bout width 20 1/4″, Middle bout width 14 1/2″, Lower bout width 25 1/4″, Depth at neck 6 7/8″, Depth at upper bout bend 8 1/4″, Depth at tail 8 1/2″, String length 42 1/8″. The top grain width varies from fine at the center to wide, especially at the upper bout edges. The maple is plain figured and fairly dense, for a solid tone. The brass halfplate hatpeg tuners work quite well. A dark sounding bass for arco play, this instrument is especially nice for a lush, classic toned voice for pizz jazz playing. Very easy response. With cover.
